TIMES GONE BY, 75/365

The rural midwest is dotted with disappearing little towns. One street wonders where you can see signs of former glory days--a dusty unused post office, empty storefronts, the deteriorating building blocks of a once bustling community. The boarded up buildings in the former railyard tell a tale of "Times Gone By," Theme #331.

  1. This is a great picture to illustrate the theme. I love the railroad and how it seems to go on forever.

  2. I love the straight, straight lines of the main tracks and the slight curve in the secondary ones. A perfect composition.

Lorri, when I click on this and some of your other images I get another thumbnail rather than a larger version. :(

  3. I don't know why you're getting a thumbnail; I just checked and it pulls up a larger image for me. I'll see if anyone else is having the same problem before I investigate further. Thanks for letting me know!

  5. Lorri, I just had Tammy check on Ron's blog where I was having the same problem. She says it is fine for her so it must be just me. :(

  6. Yes a magnificent photo but I feel I have seen it before, Maybe a western "Waterhole Three" or was it in "Kelly's Heros". I love it.

  8. There's an ageless quality to this picture. The eye is drawn out along the track, but also back to the station house that is waiting patiently for a train that will never come.

  11. It may tell the tale of "times gone by" but I sure feel like I am on the train that is about to stop at the station. Great shot.

  12. Great capture - it looks so forlorn like it's waiting for a train that will never come.
