CROSSROADS, 7/365

I am directionally challenged. I understand right and left. As a newcomer to the area, the first two or twenty times I came to this crossroads I would second guess myself and go in the wrong direction every time. It's a good thing the town is only a few blocks long in any direction or who knows how long I might have been lost.

This crossroads became the definition of how I felt about relocating at this stage in my life. Where am I? And where am I going now?

Taking the shot at night with a flash had the pleasant result of knocking out the unappealing background objects.

Although there are several possible themes for this shot I'm filing it under "Crossroads," Theme #69 .

  1. Don't come to Brisbane Queensland, the worst sign posted city in the world IMHO

  2. Put me in your "left and right" club! I would hate that as well! Great image - the black background really brings out the signs!

  3. Lorri, this photo has just the right impact to convey the theme. Shooting it at night to eliminate the background clutter was definitely the way to go.

  4. I am with you completely. I can't find my way out of a paper bag. That would surely confuse me especially in traffic when I had to make a snap decision. Great shot!

  6. Great shot - and very effective taken at night. I used to live in a small town where people used to give me directions by telling me to "turn left past the Wilson farm" - no street signs in sight. If you don't know the Wilsons, you're lost!

  8. I'm the navigator on our long camping trips. Your photo sums up that moment of panic when he says desperately, "North or south?" and I, equally desperately scanning the map answer, "West!"

  9. Your photo and your narration make this post perfect for the Crossroads theme. I like the way the flash negated any ambient light in the background. It looks really cool...
