HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, 293/365

Over the Rhine is one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city. And one of the up and coming neighborhoods. Blocks of renovated warehousing surrounding the area are becoming high end condos and restaurants. Apparently it's trendy to live well on the edgy side of town.

But for the people who live deep inside Over the Rhine, life can be hard. It's decaying buildings, corner drug deals, empty storefronts and rents that are rising with the trend of renovation. But it's home.

I watched her skip along the street, past boarded up buildings and people huddled in decaying doorways, holding her mom's hand, smiling, chattering with the enthusiasm of any little girl anywhere. Clearly embarking on a shopping trip. And that purse. That bright, pink, happy make-you-smile purse in the middle of all the gray.

"Home is Where the Heart Is," Theme #151.

This is an awesome shot for this theme! It's amazing how kids can find something good in anything, a pink purse is it for her. Have a great day!

  3. The pink really punches out, the gray majes it look cold and threatening, I would have tried the leggings in colour too. Great Social Comment - Life goes on!
